1903 G E Walton & Co Ltd Silver Lidded Vanity Jar With Cranberry Glass Liner
A beautiful early Edwardian (1903) decorative hallmarked silver lidded vanity jar with highly decorative pierced silver casing and cranberry glass insert made by the well known Birmingham silversmiths George Edward Walton and Co Ltd. The pierced silver casing is decorated in a floral pattern to the lower part, the upper part in a Baroque style pattern and in between there are decorative bands. The lid has been etched with initials possibly EPI. The base is a plain open flat ring design. The cranberry glass liner is fixed in place and has a hand cut starburst pattern to the underside.
The lid has a couple of dinks and the glass liner has one small nick on the top edge and this has been reflected in the asking price. The jar weighs a total of 162g is 8cm tall and 7cm diameter.
