A limited edition Caithness glass paperweight called "Mey Tapestry". Designer Alastair Macintosh and engraver Willie Bain have produced a range of artglass and paperweights. The recurring themes for this collection are the use of Her Majesty's much loved pastel colours and the flowers with which we have come to associate her, such as the Elizabeth of Glamis rose and the poppy of remembrance, together with the white rose seen at her funeral.
All the paperweights in the range will bear a special Queen Mother backstamp. The background shows the Castle of Mey (the Queen Mother's home near to the Caithness Glass factory in Wick), while a Glamis Rose appears in the centre, covered in droplets of dew to represent the tears shed for the Queen Mother. Design: Alastair MacIntosh and Willie Bain. Edition: 250 closed at 119. Signed to the base: HMQM, Mey Tapestry, Caithness Scotland, 88/250.A used item in good condition.
