At the end of the 1970s he left for freelance. He set up a studio at Zelená Hora near ár nad Sázavou and began to create impressive objects in the form of glass bowls and vases with the help of grinding, etching, or even drilling and sanding. Frantiek Vízner emphasizes absolute simplicity without slipping into the cold geometry; there is some poeticness in his glass. The essence of his work has remained basically the same since the early 1960s, but its form is undergoing constant inconspicuous changes. The constant admiration for Scandinavian design is reflected in their shape and color economy, wrote the curator of the Prague Museum of Decorative Arts Milan Hlave about Vízner's work eleven years ago at Art + Antiques.
He considers the search for order, craft quality, the effort to promote the beauty of glass and the necessity to manipulate the material with his own hand. Unlike many glass artists, he would not entrust the production of studio pieces to another person, thus proving the demandingness of himself and his surroundings.
