RARE Caithness Planets Set 1 Ltd Edition Paperweights 1970 Mars Venus Mercury Saturn Signed Peter Holmes Colin Terris. These were the very first Caithness limited edition paperweights and featured an interpretation of Mars, Mercury, Saturn and Venus.

Each piece is signed by Colin Terris and Peter Holmes. A complete matching set - all have the same number in the edition. All marked 26/500 with the date 1970. All in very good condition. Come in the original long Caithness box and with certificate. Mercury is represented by a suspended air bubble, which indeed looks like a ball of Mercury and is shown above an interesting textured representation of the planet's surface. In Mars all the surface mystery of the'Red Planet' is symbolized in the base of this weight, while above this two trapped air bubbles represent its captive moons. In Venus the Goddess of Love is symbolized by a central intertwining column rising from the richly textured surface of her planet. Saturn is represented by a trapped air bubble and is surrounded by its famous rings.

Caithness began this series in 1969 and completed the edition in 1971. This is an excellent opportunity to own a moment of history with this original Caithness paperweight set.
