William Manson:'Spring' Paperweight, 1976 (Limited Edition). Pretty Caithness paperweight by William Manson of a bright yellow daffodil bloom floating over a black ground surrounded by a ring of millefiori, daisy-like canes.
This is a very attractive paperweight, which was originally available as part of a set of four in 1976 representing the seasons of the year, the daffodil being spring. The maker's typical'WM' cane in blue and white nestles among the daisies.
151 out of 500, although it is believed that the edition wasn't completed. Diameter: 8.5 cm approx; height: 7.5 cm approx. Excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or noticeable scratches.
There is a small original flaw near the base of the weight see image no. 7 where it appears that an area of the glass dome was not completely polished down. This can be felt as a small ridge but does not detract from the overall appearance or quality of the weight.
The small dots, which may be seen in some of the photos, are tiny air bubbles in the glass. There are some extraneous reflections on the glass.
