William Manson:'Summer' Paperweight, 1976 (Limited Edition). Superb Caithness paperweight, by William Manson, of a pink flower with a central silvery'bubble' above green leaves and a stem rising from a purple/black ground. The weight has an outer ring of daisy-like yellow, white and green millefiori with an inner ring of five, larger, simple flowers: two orange, one yellow, one pink and one blue.
This last displays the maker's typical'WM' signature. This is a stunning paperweight, which was originally available as part of a set of four in 1976 representing the seasons of the year, the pink flower being summer.
151 out of 500, although it is believed that the edition wasn't completed. Diameter: 7.5 cm approx; height: 6.0 cm approx. Excellent vintage condition with a flawless dome and no chips, cracks or scratches. The base is also in fine condition with almost no signs of wear. There is a tiny original fault near the base of the weight see image no.
5 where it appears that an area of the glass dome was not completely polished down, or perhaps an air bubble had started to form. This can be felt as a small ridge but does not detract from the overall appearance or quality of the weight. The white area in this image is a reflection. There are some extraneous reflections to the glass.
